Karel Obluk

Karel brings over two decades of investment, operational, and entrepreneurial experience to his role and is a member of the firm’s investment committee.

Prior to Evolution, Karel was Chief Technology Officer, Chief Scientist, and interim Chief Executive Officer at AVG Technologies (NYSE:AVG); where he was the architect of the technology platform that today has approximately four hundred million users. Karel led the company’s technology development, taking it from a single product company to a global multi-product platform. Karel is a leading technologist in the cybersecurity space and was a Director of the Antimalware Testing Standards Organization, a non-profit consortium of security vendors having the aim to improve quality of tests, provide recommendations, best practices and guidelines for good and relevant antimalware testing.

Karel holds a Ph.D. and MSc. in Computer Science from the Brno University of Technology. He was awarded a Kauffman Fellowship by the Palo Alto based Society of Kauffman Fellows.
